thanks to the guys!

Today in church it was a day for the girls, so the guys had to prepare programmes for us and everything. In the past years they weren’t very nice to us, like last year when they made us play a game where we had to step on balloons and burst them. -.- This time round it wasn’t so bad… first they had this “awards show” which was pretty silly, like the blurest girl, the girl that gossips the most and all that. -.-

After that they had this session where the girls were split into 4 groups and we could choose a guy and make him up anyway we liked. So poor Jireh suffered under than hands of my group. When the session ended the 4 guys were made to stand forward and the girls had to vote for who we thought was the “prettiest”. The guys were pretnding to be S4 (sisters of F4) and started introducing themselves… their actions really made my hair stand on their ends. I think I’m convinced that Chinese High guys aren’t quote right up there after today… :p But the whole thing was really hilarious; it was a total pity no one had a camera, of I would have ben able to blackmail them for life with those photos. *evil grin* I hope they managed to get all the powder and make-up off after that!

At the end they did a skit and a song, which was ok… at least there was some thoughtfulness puit into it. :) And Gabriel was really great in his acting, he had all of us cracking up. :p For presents they gave us these brushes… those you use in the house for subbing things. -.- We should really go scrub them with it or something, but I guess it’s their revenge considering that we gave them dog bowls with sweets inside last year. Oops? ^^ ; Well soon it will be our turn to plan programmes for them on “their day”, so… *evil grin* Nevertheless, big thanks to them for planning the whole programme! :)

stupid project work!

A few days ago I returned home to find a fax from MCDS on my table. My project work group had sent out faxes to the various homes for juvenile delinquents to request for interviews, and being under MCDS, the homes had to seek approval from the ministry before they could grant us any interviews. The letter said that they could not allow us to carry out our interviews as there were aready others who had done similar ones and there were many others requesting to carry out interviews as well. Another reason was that they did not want the rehabilitation process of the juveniles to be interrupted.

I understand their stand, but the interviews are integral for our project. Our plan would be based on the answers we get from out interviews, and without them what can we do?! We really need that primary source… The chances of us finding a secondary resource with all the relevant information we require is extremely small, and if we base our final plan on that we will certainly be penalised for not carrying out primary research on these juveniles. What am I supposed to do now?! Chin Yaw suggested that we “interview” those who had been in homes previously, but their information will never be given out and if we just fake the interviews we will most certainly be questioned by the examiners during our presentation as to where we got our leads from. How will we answer them?!

Project work totally sucks… I feel so exasperated about the whole thing I could just sit down and cry… and it most certainly doesn’t help when you see other groups making progess and your group is still stuck there… this majorly sucks!

Teachers’ Day

We had teachers’ day celebrations in school today. After the workout we had breakfast with our civics tutor while the concert went on in the parade square. Someone brought a float, and after Joel inflated it (man that guy sure has a lot of breath!) we asked Mr Bek to sit on it. He didn’t want to initially, but he gave in in the end after we bugged him to. He got off soon though… guess he was embarassed. ^^ ; The performances were ok in general; the one which was about channel switching as well as the other on impersonations were hilarious! I really liked the one Haresh did for Mr Menon, he sounded just like him. From where I sat I could see Miss Vivienne Low laughing so hard; I’m sure the other teachers were too.

Went back to Fairfield after that to visit the teachers. Everytime I go back I see more and more new faces. Nevertheless it’s great to be back and visit the teachers who are all still there. Talked to Miss Song for quite long. She kept mentioning that out class was the most special 4A class she’s seen, just different from the rest. But I don’t see how our class would be so different from the others. Maybe it’s just the mix of people?

When we were in the staff room this new teacher called me over. I didn’t know who he was, so I thought he was calling for another of his students to go in or something. Turns out that he was an ex-njcian, and also Mr Ang’s first batch of students. I wonder if Mr Ang was the one who inspired him to teach Physics… The teacher was asking about our current house system, and from what he said the old system was really different. I presume he was from what now is the Aqua house. :p

After hanging around for a bit Jun, Winnie, Christine and I went for a really filling lunch, after which we just walked around. Ended up buying these big plastic eyes from Spotlight; the kind you use for crafts, which we are going to sew on our bags. Somehow I can imagine people starting at it when I go to school, or start laughing behind my back (literally). Well first I’ll see if I actually sew it on in the end… who knows if i’ll chicken out or something? LOL.

Feeling rather tired now, so I guess I’ll be off to bed early tonight. Happy Teachers’ Day to all teachers out there! :)

pissed

Posted in Rants

I haven’t had a lot to write about lately, thus explaining the lack of posts here. Got rather pissed at Gian today… We were supposed to hand in out physics assignment last friday, and Gian was still doing his assignment. He asked for my paper to take a look, so I lent it to him. After returning it to me soon after, he took it for the second time. This time he did not return the paper. I had expected him to hand in my paper for me since he didn’t return it, but when I asked him if he did today he didn’t even remember that I had lent him my paper! Arrgh! It’s probably somewhere in his hostel, but I seriously doubt that he would be able to find it (or would he remember to?), so I ended up redoing the whole thing. I actually did my assignment early, and now I had to redo the whole thing again, which is an absolute waste of time. If you borrow something, at the very least remember to return it.

finally, it’s the weekend!

Posted in Church

Feeling rather glad that the weekend is finally here. Yesterday wasn’t that good a day for me. Woke up with flu and ended up sleeping during most of the lessons, or just not able to pay full attention. Then there’s Aunt Flo, who made me feel crankier than usual. >< I also had a church meeting after school, so I only reached home around 9+pm, and after bathing and all that I just collapsed in bed and fell asleep. Too tired…

Yesterday Ben mentioned about something that happened in his workplace, resulting in the police going over. I don’t know if the people directly involved will be sued or anything, but I’ll definitely keep Ben in my prayers. He’s not directly related, but he saw the people directly involved doing something. Being busy at that point in time, he didn’t realise something suspicious was going on and thus did not stop them. I really hope he doesn’t get implicated, because the whole situation may get really bad, and the people involved may suffer serious consequences. :(

The topic on Hui Fen was also brought up. No matter what she has done I will not ostracise her, and I hope the others won’t too when and if they see her around. I wonder how she is though, considering that she left so suddenly and without a word… People do make mistakes, and even though such mistakes may not be condoned by most people it doesn’t mean that when you see that person you go all out to avoid him/her. After all it’s the mistake that we are against and not the person just because he/she was the one who did it.
