the amazing race 7

I just finished watching The Amazing Race on TV just now. I’m so glad that Ray and Deana were eliminated this round, because I seriously can’t stand Ray and his mouth. All the things that he says about the teams he considered to be weaker than his… especially Meredith and Gretchen. And look who beat them in this leg of the race. Haha. But among all the seasons, Flo still wins hands down for being the most irritating contestent.

I don’t mind any of the remaining teams winning the race, except for Rob and Amber. I just don’t want them to win something again, and they have no need for another million anyway.

calling can be such a pain

I tried calling the NUS Office of Admissions this whole morning, only to find that I couldn’t get throught the hotline. Either the line was down or somehow there were a lot of calls going in today. After dialing more than 10 times (and seriously thinking of giving up), I finally got through. I had expected to hear a person’s voice on the other end, but what I got was one of those really irritating computerised messages. “If you want this, please press 1, and for this, please press 2…” And after having to listen to the whole message saying that applications this year could only be submitted online and all that, I finally got through to the admissions officer.

If people wanted to call in, it would most probably be that they have some queries, right? I really don’t see then point of them using an automated message, because what was pre-recorded wasn’t in any way helpful at all.

Anyway, I was told that for those paying by credit card and have their payment staus as “payment processing” would be considered as having paid the application fee. But we have to keep checking the status of our payment to make sure that it changes. If there’s a problem processing the payment, a grace period will be given to make another payment. So if anyone else was wondering about the same thing, no worries now. :)

my day

Had science quiz training today, as with every tuesday. The students always seem so restless towards the end, but I guess that they’re also tired after a whole day of school, since they end late on tuesdays. I always end up roaming the school before lesson to find a venue for the lesson, since cabin E is always in use and Mr Loh is uncontactable half the time. And as a result we never start on time. -.- The first competition is earlier than I had expected. I was told it’s on 4 May, but now it may be on 28 April instead. Tell me how on earth am I supposed to cover the syllabus by then. :( I just hope that they can try to be as attentive as possible so that I can cover more in the next few sessions. I’m thankful I have some really good students who really try to listen and actually read the notes before or after the lesson, and clarify the things they don’t understand.

After lessons, I headed to town for dinner with some of the s15 people. The last time I met them was when we collected our A level results (with the exception of Lynn), and we didn’t really get the chance to talk much then. Dinner was at this small place opposite Long John Silver, which served ok food. After that we walked out of the shopping centre to chat, but I think I was on the phone most of the time then. Oops… had to go home soon so I didn’t get to speak to them that much after that. Don’t want to reach home too late since my parents won’t be too happy with me, and I don’t want that to happen. Hopefully I can meet up with some of them soon and do something else. :)

help?

Has anyone done the online application for NUS and sent in their payment? I sent my payment via credit card slightly more than a week ago, and until now it’s still in the “payment processing” stage. The thing is that payment has to be received by April 1st, which is just a few days away, and I’m not sure if they will receive my payment by then. I’m not sure if they will let my application go through if it’s still “payment processing” by then.

If you have paid, does it say “payment received” when you check your application status? If not I’ll have to call up their office to enquire. =/

oops!

I feel so much better today. My throat feels so much better and my blocked nose is more or less gone now too. It was terrible yesterday, I kept blowing my nose because of that. >< I just hope that it doesn’t get blocked again tomorrow.

I was supposed to meet Lynn this morning so that she could pass me back my stuff, but somehow before I slept last night I thought that our meeting time was 8.15pm instead of 8.15am, so I didn’t set an alarm before I went to bed. My handphone was also out of battery, so it was charging and on silent mode. At around 8 this morning Lynn called… and called… and no one picked up the phone of course. It was until she called my house that I realised that I had overslept and rushed to the train station to meet her. I hope she wasn’t late for work today.

Meeting some of my JC classmates tomorrow! :)
