shoo cockroach, shoo!

I need to wash my water bottle and brush my teeth before going to bed, but I can’t step into the kitchen now because there’s a huge cockroach in there. And by huge, I mean anything that’s bigger than the size of a baby cockroach. I wonder why cockroaches even exist in the first place, because I think that they’re really disgusting, and I don’t want to go anywhere near them.

Hopefully the cockroach crawls away soon, because I really want to go to bed!

my throat is itching.

For some reason it’s really hazy today, and I my throat feels really scratchy and dry as well. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with the haze though, but hopefully it feels better tomorrow. I’ve drunk lots of water today! I’m hoping that the weather tomorrow will be better as well.

Last week, one of the things that I was slightly bothered about was the groupings for my Management with Humour project. In the previous lecture, it was announced that 10 people would be assigned to a group, and some of us were concerned that if we get stuck with 9 other people we don’t know and from different schools as well, it might be rather difficult to find a common time to meet up to discuss the project. And it’s 10 people in a group! Imagine 10 very different timetables in the worst case scenario. But thankfully, when the groupings were announced on wednesday, the groupings were more of less done based on what school you’re from. And I’m in the same group as Sherry and Serene! So, since all of my group members are from BioScience, hopefully that will make things a lot easier for us. :)

My appetite seems to have shrunk these days. And my eating speed seems to be decreasing as well. Is it because I didn’t eat a lot during the holidays? I can’t eat a lot since I don’t exactly exercise either, and eating more than what you work off = growing fat. >< But I feel bad for wasting food if I can’t finish it, yet I know that forcing myself to finish everything isn’t very good for health either. Maybe it’s another of those passing phases where I don’t feel like eating much.

it’s the start of another week.

My mum’s trying to get me to give away the shoes I hardly wear, or throw away those that are going to fall apart sometime too, because according to her, I have too many pairs of shoes. But if you were to look at my shoe cupboard, you’ll see that she has more pairs of shoes than I do! The pot calling the kettle black, tsk tsk. But I’m not going to give or throw away any yet, at least not until I get new ones, because the blank space in the cupboard would probably end up being taken up by my mum! And who knows, I might feel like wearing or need to wear one of those pairs of shoes one day. In any case, I still need to find a nice pair of black heels, because my old one is spoiling.

It’s the third week of school! Time really flies when you have lots of things to do. Since the bioscience people usually use LT20 for our lectures, and it’s one of the older LTs, I do wish that the school will consider upgrading it or something. Last friday, when I was getting up from my seat during the break, the table (what do you call it anyway, since it isn’t exactly a table?) actually came off! I don’t think many people would have this sort of experience. If only they could change the older LTs so that they’re like the newer ones… those with slightly bigger seats and cushions on the seat, so that my butt won’t feel numb from sitting for hours. -.- But that’s just wishful thinking on my part…

stop wasting my ink!

One thing that they should teach all lecturers to do is to never put a coloured background for your lecture slides if you’re going to place it online as a pdf file! It’s ok when it’s in powerpoint format, because I can always edit out the background, but I can’t do anything about it if it’s in pdf format. Worse if it’s a dark background! Even if I print my notes in black and white, I waste so much ink because the background comes out as black, and I have no space to write stuff on my lecture notes. What’s so interesting about coloured backgrounds anyway. Sheesh.

Thanks a lot peter, for the 117 slides you made me print, all with a black background on them. ><

*wishes for more canteens in school*

Posted in School

It seems that the school canteens are getting more crowded this year. We only had 1 hour for lunch today, and both canteen A and Cafe at the Quad were really crowded. There wasn’t any place for us to sit, and the queues were so long! So in the end Sherry, Jasmine, Si Qi and I ended up buying cup noodles from the mini mart for lunch. So sad. And we were not the only ones too. :(

The number of students are increasing, and yet there doesn’t seem to be an increase in the number of canteens. (Hmm, is there a canteen in the new Chem & Bio Engineering building?) We need more canteens in school! Or at least bigger canteens. Hopefully I won’t have to spend the rest of my mondays eating instant noodles!
