I hate uncertainties. I hate it when my plans fall though at the last minute, and I have to scramble to make new ones.
I had planned to take Jap 3 during the special semester, since the workload for that is pretty heavy, and it would be better to take it during the holidays. Because of that, I decided not to apply for any internships this holidays. A couple of weeks ago the class shedule for the special semesters were released, and to my horror and disappointment, Jap 3 is not being offered this year! It’s probably either because none of the teachers teaching Jap 3 will be around, or that because the school has to open up core subjects for the NS guys entering early, they had to take away some subjects. In any case, that seriously spoilt my plans.
So that started my search for an internship this coming holidays. Emailed some places a few weeks ago and there has been no reply yet. Emailed some of the profs in school, but so far either they’re not taking in any students this holidays, or their lab is already full. Sigh. So far, all I see is dead ends everywhere. I guess it is to be expected, since by the time I sent out my emails it was already a little late, but still…
Perhaps no news from GIS and IMCB is still good news, because there’s this tiny chance that I can still do an internship there. After all, from what I’ve heard so far, they do email you to inform you if there are no vacancies. But I’m not counting on a possible internship there, because chances are that it won’t happen. I guess there’s nothing much I can do now other than to email some other profs in school (and keep my fingers crossed though chances that they can take me in are low at this point in time), and wait for any replies. If it doesn’t work out in the end, maybe for some unknown reason, I’m just not meant to do an internship this holidays?
In any case, I’ll make sure I send out my resumes a lot earlier next time!
