in point form

  • The other day I was walking through the carpark in my estate while on my way to school. I heard the sound from a motorcycle behind me, but when I turned to look, I saw a bicycle with an engine attached behind. And the person on it was riding it just like a bike. -.-;
  • I can’t stand drivers who don’t bother to stop when the lights are red and the green man is already on. I met one such driver the other day, and he didn’t even bother to slow down even when it was obvious he couldn’t pass the red light. Good thing no one was crossing the road from the side where his car came from, if not the consequences could be disastrous! I guess it’s always a good thing to check whether the cars have stopped before you cross the road, even when the green man is on.
  • I’m so sick and tired of doing projects! They’re really time-consuming and take a lot of effort. Why do I still have a group report to do even when it’s the last week of school before the exams start. :(
  • SK Sze’s paper was used as a reference in one of the Wikipedia articles. It could be another person with the same name, but then again, what’s the chance of someone with the same name being in the field of proteomics as well?
  • I think the school has to do better when it comes to scheduling lab sessions and lessons as well. I see no reason why there should still be lectures covering new content the very week before the exam. I think it probably has something to do with the coordinators themselves though… and those lecturers who always get sidetracked and end up not being able to finish their lectures.
  • Now that the Jdramas and anime I have been watching this season are over, I thought that I’ll finally be able to concentrate on my work. But no… there’s always other stuff to watch! Youtube is evil too. I see some nice shows that are about to start soon! Must control…
  • I only realised the other day that you can watch higher quality videos on Youtube by adding &fmt=18 at the end of the url. Doesn’t work for some of the older videos though.
  • A massage would be seriously nice now! My back muscles feel strained.
  • It’s exam time again. :( Stress levels are rising…

Happy Easter!

Today’s a happy day! :D

The only bad thing is that my stomach hurts. :( I woke up with a pain in my stomach this morning, but it went away later. So I went to church feeling generally ok (though my stomach felt a bit weird from time to time), and things stayed that way until after lunch. I have no idea what’s causing it though? I doubt it’s something I ate that doesn’t agree with me, because dinner last night was Hawaiian pizza, which I’ve never had a problem with. I haven’t eating anything unusual for the past couple of days as well. This is the second time this semester that I have this problem, why?

The only reason I can think of right now is stress. While I wouldn’t say that I’m very stressed, I have to say that there’s more work to be done this semester than the last, and I have quite a lot of things on my mind from time to time. So maybe that’s why? Hopefully the pain won’t come back again after dinner, and I’ll stay fine!

found!

It’s one week before the recess week, and there’s a lot of work to be done! There are 2 tests this week, 3 projects to do during the break, and another 2 tests to come the week after the break. I really dislike studying for the Pharmacology test, because there are so many drugs to remember. The only good thing is that the syllabus this year has been reduced, so we only have to learn 100+ drugs compared to the 300(?) the previous batch had to learn. Having to learn about 100+ drugs is already more than what my brain can handle.

Anyway, the thumbdrive has been found, thanks to Wan’e! And guess where it was… in between the lining of my bag. =/ The bad thing about carrying big, soft bags is that it can be quite difficult to find small items in the bag. I tried feeling for my thumbdrive in the bag, but somehow I just couldn’t feel anything. Good thing I decided to ask someone else to try! I’m just glad and relieved that I didn’t lose my documents. I should get around to sewing the small hole in the lining as well… soon!

electricity shut-down

The electricity’s going to be shut of in less than an hour’s time for some maintenance work to be carried out. I really hope that it comes back at 1230 as what we were told, and not end up dragging for too long. Having gotten so used to being able to use various electrical appliances whenever I want, going without electricity is really inconvenient. Especially when the lights cannot be switched on! Today’s one of those days that I need to switch on the lights in the day because it’s raining outside. And I need the computer to type my lab reports too.

Speaking of school-related stuff, I was under the impression that last Saturday’s class was the last practical class for Research Seminar after the announcement that was made. But the first thing I saw when I came online today was an announcement saying that there will be a class tomorrow, and that’s the actual last practical session we’re supposed to have. :(

As the exams draw nearer, stress levels are going up and up…

how to identify a bio student

It feels so weird reading about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in English. Terms that I’ve heard before in Chinese sound funny when they’re translated. And I have no idea what some of those terms are referring to! Like “external pathogenic wind”… what’s that?

I’ve got 3 huge bumps on my legs right now. I think I got bitten by some sort of insect that’s not a mosquito, because the size of the bumps are a few times bigger than the size of a normal mosquito bite. Looks gross! There appears to be inflammation at these sites as well. Rubor (redness), Calor (heat), Tumor (swelling), Dolor (pain), the symptoms of acute inflammation, I have them all. See what studying biology does to you! I’m sure normal people don’t think of things like this when they have an inflammation. But then again, I guess medicine students might be like that too. ;)
